The multimedia event which will take place in the last week
of may in the "CINEMA REX" is split into 3 parts.
Part 1 - The Exhibition
The first part of the exhibition and the major one will
concentrate on presenting the forms of computer art to public. At this moment
this includes the following:
- Computer graphics which includes hand-drawn "pixelised"
graphics, image processing, world wide web design (web-art) and some less
known graphics forms like ascii and ansi art. We called some of the established
artists in this area to cover the whole palette of computer graphics possibilities.
The guest list is still not definite, and due to its uncomplete state, it
is placed at the end of the document.
- Computer music in all forms of electronic sound production, from
4 channel music modules (mod files) all over to midi networking of various
electronic devices and new computer music software and hardware, introducing
more possibilities to electronic music composers.
- Computer demos, the not-well-known form of expression are computer
executables, created purely for art's sake, featuring impressive or spectacular
audiovisuals. Played directly from computer on computer screen, we find analogy
among these productions and music videos, although they are very different.
Demos are more dependent on "low-level" programming knowledge than
videos. They have to run in real-time, showing the various ingenious effects
never seen outside this form of production. In other words, demos combine
computer graphics, computer music and computer code in specially designed
and directed showdown of some groups' capabilities.
- Animations and Video Art are the most known forms of computer art.
We will try to present the most quality artworks from the variety of long
form video presentations and music videos. We will also try to organize a
video-art forum in order to highlight the abuse of artistic tools used for
video production.
In order to cover all aspects of the CyberPunk movement and its culture, CTW
will present a numerous ilustrations done by well-known and less-known
yugoslav graphics ilustrators, who found their inspiration in it.
Part 2 - The Demo Scene Party
After the exhibition, the largest public demo scene party will be organized
at the same place, as some kind of support for the demo scene computer art
in Yugoslavia. The event, named SCENE STRIKE
1 should start at Friday, May 30, and last overnight until Saturday
morning.
In our hardest efforts to make this party as better as
possible, we are looking forward to find all equipment needed to support
such an event. That means that we will have a video beam for big screen
projection and video amusement, a quality HiFi equipment for highest audio
pleasure and a partyplace for about 200 sceners.
We are going to set up a number of tables, to allow people to bring their
computers, but reservations will be needed for tables.
Also, to prevent the place from overcrowding, we would ask you to preserve
your entry ticket, because there is a possibility of closing the party place
if there are too many people inside already. If we decide that the place
has reached its limit, only the people with reservations will be allowed
to enter.
And to mention once again, If you are taking a computer with you, you MUST
reserve a table BEFORE the party, because there will be a limited
number of tables.
When it comes to competitions, we are proud to announce that for the first
time in Yugoslavia, we will organize the competitions with PRIZES! The best
productions in all competitions will receive a reward for the effort, so
warm up your chairs and prepare yourself for the REAL competitions.
Maybe it's your first time, but be sure it will not be the
last! ;-)
Part 3 - The Concert
At the end of this fast week, we are organising a techno
concert with major yugoslav techno artists. hARdCoRRoSioN and KKPTSAI have
already announced their appearance, but we are still gathering more musicians
and groups to take place in this final conclusion of the computer art week.
The concert might move to another place, but still it is the part of the
Computer Art Week. The people which will interact with you at the whole exhibition
and the party are willing to present all what they were talking about during
exhibition live, on stage.
So, don't miss the computer event of the year, this is something
people will talk about!
